'Food' 4 Thought. (World Food Day)

I am shocked!

923 million people are straving while i write?!?!?!?!
...that is VERY SHOCKING!!!

...that's not to mention the various other shocking statistics i have found and read! (...just google 'hunger statistics' and you will know what i mean!) ...but to save you the bother i am adding just 2 links here:

'Food' 4 thought:

Seen seperately, the girl is normal. It is everyday life! For many, me included, it is! Yet that boy's picture is just plain shocking ...not to mention pitiful/sad... There is NOTHING wrong with the girl. But there is something VERY wrong with the boy! (...well not with them per se but with how they were 'caught' in the picture...) Seen together these two photos are much worse than 'just' plain shocking!

"Am i my brother's keeper?" (Genesis 4:4)

Answer:

Jesus said: "A man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho, when he fell into the hands of robbers. They stripped him of his clothes, beat him and went away, leaving him half dead. A priest happened to be going down the same road, and when he saw the man, he passed by on the other side. So too, a Levite, when he came to the place and saw him, passed by on the other side. But a Samaritan, as he traveled, came where the man was; and when he saw him, he took pity on him. He went to him and bandaged his wounds, pouring on oil and wine. Then he put the man on his own donkey, brought him to an inn and took care of him. The next day he took out two denarii and gave them to the innkeeper. 'Look after him,' he said, 'and when I return, I will reimburse you for any extra expense you may have.'

"Which of these three do you think was a neighbor to the man who fell into the hands of robbers?"

The expert in the law replied, "The one who had mercy on him."

Jesus told him, "Go and do likewise."
(Luke 10: 30-37)

hmmmm.....
And just in case i am still wondering:

"Then the King will say to those on his right, 'Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world. For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.' 'I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.'
(Mt 25: 34-36, 40)

"Am i my brother's keeper?"
(Genesis 4:4)

YOU BET I AM!!!!!

...it is MY DUTY!
JESUS SAID SO!!!!!

------------

...what then should i do?
...well i don't need to be a genius to figure that one out!

We have all been taught at school, or wherever else, that we are not to waste! Do not waste! I am not to waste whatever has been given to me! If i have food ...let me not waste! If i have wealth ...let me not waste! ...but let me use it well instead! ...can i not use at least a part of what i have to help others? ...there are soooooo many organisations asking for 'a small contribution' to help feed the hungry!!! ;-)

On a different level:

'Man does not live on bread alone, but on every
word that comes from the mouth of God.'
(Matt 4:4)

-----------

"The son, after having taken his share of his father's riches, after wandering off to a "distant" place and "sqaundered his money in wild living", (Luke 15:13) and ended up feeding the pigs (Luke 15:15) ...which by the way is in Jewish tradition a filthy ...i mean totally filthy... job (...in short after having broken his dad's heart...) finally "came to his senses" (Luke 15:17) :

And he would fain have filled his belly with the husks that the swine did eat: and no man gave unto him. And when he came to himself, he said, How many hired servants of my father's have bread enough and to spare, and I perish with hunger! (Luke 15:16-17)

Bread?!
hmmmm...
why bread?!?!
...of all things?!?!?!?
HE WAS RICH FOR HEAVEN'S SAKE!!!
...why the bread?!?!?!?!??!?!?!?!?!??!?!?!

what's sooooooooooooo important about bread?!?!?!?!
-----------

'Man does not live on bread alone,
but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.'
(Matt 4:4)

...is Jesus NOT the Word of God?!?!?!?!:

"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning." (John 1:1)

"The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the One and Only, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth." (John 1:14)
YES HE IS!!!!!
Jesus IS the Word of God!
-----------
'Man does not live on bread alone, but on every word
that comes from the mouth of God.'
(Mt 4:4)
"Then Jesus declared, "I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty. But as I told you, you have seen me and still you do not believe.

At this the Jews there began to grumble about him because he said, "I am the bread that came down from heaven." They said, "Is this not Jesus, the son of Joseph, whose father and mother we know? How can he now say, 'I came down from heaven'?"

"Stop grumbling among yourselves," Jesus answered.

"I am the bread of life. Your ancestors ate the manna in the wilderness, yet they died. But here is the bread that comes down from heaven, which people may eat and not die. I am the living bread that came down from heaven. Whoever eats of this bread will live forever. This bread is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world."

Then the Jews began to argue sharply among themselves, "How can this man give us his flesh to eat?"
Jesus said to them, "Very truly I tell you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you have no life in you. Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise them up at the last daY. For my flesh is REAL food and my blood is REAL drink. Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood remains in me, and I in them. Just as the living Father sent me and I live because of the Father, so the one who feeds on me will live because of me.
This
is the bread that came down
from heaven. Your ancestors ate manna and died, but whoever feeds on this bread will live forever."
He said this while teaching in the synagogue in Capernaum.
On hearing it, many of his disciples said, "This is a hard teaching. Who can accept it?"
Aware that his disciples were grumbling about this, Jesus said to them, "Does this offend you? Then what if you see the Son of Man ascend to where he was before! The Spirit gives life; the flesh counts for nothing. The words I have spoken to you—they are full of the Spirit and life. Yet there are some of you who do not believe." For Jesus had known from the beginning which of them did not believe and who would betray him. He went on to say, "This is why I told you that no one can come to me unless the Father has enabled them." From this time many of his disciples turned back and no longer followed him.

"You do not want to leave too, do you?"
Jesus asked the Twelve.

Simon Peter answered him, "Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life. We have come to believe and to know that you are the Holy One of God."
(John 6: 35-68 Enlarging, Capitalising and bolding ...to stress... font is my doing)

-----------
Jesus repeated over and over and over and over!!!

...and if i dare grumble or contradict Jesus' OWN words then Jesus will answer me:

"STOP GRUMBLING!" (John 6:43)
...and He allows me to walk away.

...it is MY choice! but if i am wise i'd stay and speak Peter's word's:

"Lord, to whom shall we go?
You have the words of eternal life.
We believe and know that
you are the Holy One of God."
(John 6:68,69)

Yes I, ruth, BELIEVE! :-)
As all CATHOLICS DO!!!! ;-)
